Delta Community Animal Shelter Provides Diaster Care For Pets

Aug 6, 2010

Delta Community Animal Shelter officers and staff attended the North Delta apartment fire on July 27th.  Working with DCAS and Emergency Social Service volunteers we rescued, medically assessed, processed and reunited over 75 pets.  Unfortunately 9 cats are still missing in the area and we are hoping to recover them by trapping them at the fire site.  DCAS is very concerned that some of the missing might have perished in the fire but trapping in the area will continue for weeks to come in the hope to find the missing.

Four cats did require emergency veterinary care due to the fire..  They are all doing well now but this very important care has been paid for solely by the shelter so not to burden the owners who are already going through a very difficult time.  Donations to help off set this cost is appreciated!  DONATE NOW

South Delta Leader shared a special story with their readers about "PECKER" who was reunited with his owners at the shelter a week after the incident.
