Lap Cat Companion & Husbandry
Age Requirement: 14 years or older
Shift Times: 2 hours once a week
- 10am - 12pm
- 12pm - 2pm
- 2pm - 4pm
- 4pm - 6pm
This is a very important position as you will be working hands-on with the shelter staff to clean, feed and examine every cat in the shelter. The role of the cat volunteer is to help ensure the cats are comfortable and receive the daily necessities. Volunteers are important so that we can be consistent in our care and be able to make extra efforts for every cat we have in the facility (which can be upward of 80 cats).
- Assist staff with providing a comfortable and clean environment for the cats to live
- Ensure animals have clean water available at all times
- Feed breakfast/dinner
- Assist staff with providing medical care
- Monitor and document inter-cat behaviour
- Socialize and handle the cats to increase adoptability and reduce stress
- Assist with answering visitors questions and ensuring they follow visiting safety guidelines
